A Day in the Life
The Structural Heart and Aortic integrated operating unit offers minimally invasive approaches to restore proper structure and function of the heart and the aorta. We focus on the transcatheter replacement or repair of the four heart valves—aortic, pulmonic, mitral, tricuspid—and the placement of stent grafts to treat aneurysms and dissections of the body’s largest artery, the aorta.

As a Senior Medical Science Specialist in the Medtronic SH&A Medical Science Team, you will be the Clinical and Technical expert for the whole portfolio of Abdominal, Thoracic, and Ancillary product lines within the Aortic division. Specifically, you will provide subject matter expertise internally and act as the key industry resource to healthcare professionals (HCPs) for clinical science evidence within the Aortic domain. To succeed in this role, you must:
• Have expertise specific to Aortic Grafts
• Establish trust and credibility with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and medical societies in the Aortic field
• Influence cross-functional teams and communicate effectively at all organizational levels
• Apply critical thinking and synthesize succinct messages from complex data
• Be detail-oriented and self-motivated
Your main Role and Responsibilities are as follows:
• Establish, develop, and foster solid relationships with KOLs, medical societies, and internal business partners.
• Serve as the key scientific representative of Medtronic Aortic Solutions for health care professionals, providing deep and advanced disease state and therapy information.
• Develop/update scientific presentations including symposia for major Aortic events/programs
• Engage and provide feedback to physicians on potential research ideas/questions
• Leverage medical/scientific expertise to address medical information inquiries from HCPs.
• Manage faculty development and physician advisory meetings
• Collaborate with a world-class cross-functional team to disseminate clinical evidence for Medtronic Aortic Solutions in a timely and transparent manner.
• Lead cross-functional literature review meetings to ensure all functions are aligned on the key clinical data. Critically evaluate clinical publications and conference presentations and integrate new findings into existing knowledge base.
• Support customer training needs as therapy expert. Develop/review and provide input on therapy related training materials to ensure scientific accuracy of content. Collaborate with marketing to ensure all key product messages and claims are scientifically valid and accurate.
• Utilize advanced subject matter expertise to provide medical input to various internal functions (General Management, Marketing, Training & Education, and R&D) and organizational units to facilitate insightful decision-making and enable achievement of business objectives.
• Understand and effectively communicate current scientific knowledge while maintaining technical expertise within the therapeutic area through attendance of major conferences, congresses, workshops, and training programs.
• Maintain a deep understanding of the science behind our products. Develop competitive intelligence in our product space.
• Domestic and international travel up to 50% of time.
Must Have:

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$117,600.00 - $176,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
