In this exciting role as Senior Reliability Engineer, you will support the integration activities for the Dexter Michigan site into Medtronic quality systems. Specifically, you will lead remediation of risk management files and support quality system procedure adoption.
Cardiac Surgery represents end stage treatment in the care continuum for many cardiovascular diseases and this OU provides an intimate relationship with the Cardiac Surgeon and Cardiac Operating Room by offering an unparalleled depth and breadth of portfolio. Key Technologies:
• Surgical heart valves
• Cardiac OR solutions (e.g., blood management, cannulae)
• Extracorporeal life support
• Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) solutions
Ensures risk management processes are fully integrated into development processes and support production and process controls.
Ensures product risk management files are remediated to compliance with procedures and standards and regulations
Supports and provides input on integration strategy, ensuring compliance during transition
May own CAPAs addressing gaps during integration, lead implementation of corrective actions and remediation
Demonstrate the ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate with internal cross-functional employees, internal leaders at all levels and external customers in the pursuit of product quality improvements and post-market risk management.
May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products including ensuring a thorough connection between design controls deliverables (from design planning, requirements development, risk management, design verification/ validation through design transfer) in the DHF to process validation, production and process controls and content captured in the DHR.
Develops, coordinates and conducts technical reliability studies and evaluations of engineering design concepts and design of experiments (DOE) constructs.
Recommends design or test methods and statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product reliability.
Completes risk analysis studies of new design and processes.
Compiles and analyzes performance reports and process control statistics; investigates and analyzes relevant variables potentially affecting product and processes.
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards.
Analyzes preliminary plans and develops reliability engineering programs to achieve company, customer and governmental agency reliability objectives.
May develop mathematical models to identify units, batches or processes posing excessive failure risks.
As necessary, proposes changes in design or formulation to improve system and/or process reliability.
May determine units and/or batches requiring environmental testing and specifies minimum number of samples to obtain statistically valid data.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a technical discipline
Minimum of 4 years of work experience in Engineering, OR Advanced degree in Engineering, or technical discipline with 2 years of work experience
Nice to Have
Bio-medical engineering degree
Engineering experience with medical devices, specifically disposable devices.
Thorough working knowledge of medical device industry product risk management regulations and standards
Understanding of heart anatomy and human/blood physiology
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, listening (with all levels of the organization). Strong interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Experience supporting cross-functional and cross-regional teams in a matrixed org. developing collaborative relationships.
Identifies and resolves issues in a proactive, creative, and timely fashion.

The provided base salary range is used nationally in the United States (except in Puerto Rico and certain CA locations). The rate offered is compliant with federal/local regulations and may vary by experience, certification/education, market conditions, location, etc.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$94,400.00 - $141,600.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
